5 Things Your Business Needs to Do in 2017
December 28, 2016
Only a few more sleeps until we welcome in the new year and with the new year comes new years resolutions. If you are a business owner some of those resolutions will be revolving around your business. So to help get those resolutions prioritized, we have the top 5 things that you, as a business owner, should take a look at for 2017.
Here we go.
Be mobile friendly: Although most businesses have already cottoned on to this essential digital requirement, there are still some websites out there that are not compatible to view on mobile devices such as phones and tablets. If you’ve still got your head in the sand, it’s time to brush off the dust and move forward with the rest of the world – 70% of whom are actively shopping online. If your website isn’t mobile friendly you may as well kiss good-Google-rankings and customer-satisfaction good-bye.
Speak with people: In order to keep on top of your business’s operations and keep it moving forward, you need to do that old-fashioned thing and verbally communicate with people. This includes your staff, existing customers and suppliers. You must keep a solid relationship with those who are ultimately responsible for the success of your brand so ensure you are kept in the loop with any suggestions from your staff, feedback/reviews from clients or if your current suppliers are the best fit for your business.
Make a plan: There’s no point saying 2017 is going to be a great year for business when you haven’t put any plans or campaigns together. Set some time aside and have a look at your hits and misses over 2016 and learn from it. Get a plan in place for campaigns and sales and stick to it. You’ll find that you will feel much more in control and organised if you have a structured plan in place for the year ahead.
Understand that digital = dollars: Every business needs a website if it is wanting to not only grow, but survive. Your website is your shop-front, your social media is your networking and your email campaigns are your flyers. Just like in real life, all of these must be regularly updated in order for your business to compete with others in the industry and stand-out from the crowd. Ensure you have a structured marketing plan and the resources to carry it out.
SEO: Now what would a hitlist for business be without our favourite 3 letters, S E O? Search Engine Optimisation is a big chunk of the pie when it comes to the success of your website reaching your targeted audience. There is a lot involved in understanding and implementing SEO but it is an essential element that must be, at the very least, acknowledged.
So now that you’ve got your business ready to roll for 2017, you can concentrate on those other new years resolutions. Good luck and Happy new Year!
